Over 50 years ago, my parents opened their first restaurant serving up real, authentic soul food. It was a hit right from the start and just kept growing. When I was a kid, I’d watch customers line up out the door, waiting not just for the amazing food but also to chat with my parents, who greeted everyone with the warmest smiles. They connected with so many people—officials, politicians, movie stars, radio personalities, and just everyday folks. They made an impact, and they’re truly missed. Now, I call Maricopa, AZ, home. We’re all about keeping the soul food tradition alive, but honestly, we couldn’t find the flavors we craved at prices that made sense. That’s when I remembered why people called my parents "The King & Queen of Soul Food"—and decided to bring all those amazing flavors right here to AZ.
